AgriNous offers powerful offline resilience, acting as a smart backup system to ensure productivity even with unreliable or no internet - read below to find out more.
1. Offline Resilience: What It Means for You
Offline resilience means AgriNous keeps working even without active internet.
- No Downtime: Finish your tasks in the field, even in remote areas with no signal.
- Data Security: Your work saves locally and syncs safely when you're back online.
- Uninterrupted Workflow: Keep your operations flowing smoothly, regardless of connectivity.
2. How AgriNous Stays Resilient Offline (The Semi-Technical Bit)
AgriNous uses a clever system to ensure your data is always available and safe:
- Local Data Storage: When you're online, AgriNous downloads and stores a local copy of your essential sale data directly on your device (tablet, phone, laptop). This is a synchronized snapshot that's regularly updated. Your device essentially has its own mini-AgriNous database of your contacts and just the active sale you were in when online, ready to go.
- Offline Data Capture & Modification: If you lose connection, AgriNous seamlessly switches to using this local data. You can continue to view, edit, and add new information just as you would normally. All these changes are temporarily stored securely on your device - you can see these as pending changes in the top right hand corner of the app in most screens.
- Smart Syncing: As soon as your device detects an internet connection, AgriNous automatically begins to synchronize all your offline changes with our central cloud servers. This process is smart and efficient, only sending the changes you made.
3. Important Considerations for Offline Work
To make the most of AgriNous offline, keep these points in mind:
- Select Your Sale BEFORE Going Offline: It's crucial to have selected the specific sale you'll be working in before you lose internet connectivity. This ensures all relevant data for that sale is downloaded and available on your device.
- Sync Regularly: While AgriNous handles extended offline periods, we highly recommend syncing your data whenever you have a stable internet connection.
- No Offline or Peer-to-Peer Syncing: AgriNous relies on a central cloud server for data synchronization. We do not offer offline or peer-to-peer syncing capabilities directly between devices. Developing and supporting such features would involve substantial additional costs and require significant local infrastructure. With the increasing availability of reliable satellite internet like Starlink, our customers are finding the current level of embedded offline support perfectly sufficient.
- Timely Re-connection is Key: AgriNous's collaborative features mean many workers in saleyards rely on data being constantly up-to-date. We don't recommend any given device stays offline for too long. Extended periods offline can lead to significant disruptions in data accuracy and animal flow, causing downstream issues with transport and potential financial implications for vendors and buyers.
