Changing your Roles

There are different Roles for different jobs.

In AgriNous, you can hold more than one role - for example, you might be a Livestock Agent at a Saleyard and also a Business User for your own buying or selling. Rather than logging in and out of separate accounts, you can switch between these roles from the Role Picker, found under your initials in the top-right corner of the header.

  • Click On Your Initial in the top right-hand corner

This will show the roles to which you have access. 
  • Select the Role you wish to work from 

Only one role is "active" at a time. Whatever you can see and do in AgriNous — which Saleyards and sales appear, what data loads, what actions you can take - depends on your active role.

The roles, and what they let you do

Role What it lets you do
Saleyard Operator Access to run the Saleyard — sales, user management, and more.
Livestock Agent Manage consignments and sell stock on behalf of vendors.
Business User View what you've sold or bought. This role is read-only within sales — you can't make changes to sale data.
Scale Operator Record and manage weighing operations.
Sale Watcher Watch a sale as it happens, without the ability to make changes.
Transporter Manage loads and transport bookings in LoadNous.

Changing roles

Switching roles isn't just a label change - it changes what AgriNous shows you and, in some cases, resets parts of the screen you're on. Here's what to expect:

  • You may be moved to a different Saleyard or Sale. If your new role doesn't have access to the Sale you were previously viewing, you'll be taken to the first Sale your new role can access - or, if you're in a Sale you can still access, reopens the Sale using the right view for the new role.
  • Some screens reset. Reports, settings, and any in-progress data imports on screen are cleared when you switch roles, since they're specific to the role you were using. Save or finish anything you're partway through before switching.
  • You can't switch roles with unsaved changes pending. If you have offline changes still syncing (for example, entries made while your connection was patchy), the Role Picker will tell you how many changes are pending and won't let you switch until they've finished syncing. Wait a moment and try again once they've gone through.
