Converting A4 Pencards/Placards to A3

If it's A4 and you or the agents have access to an A3 printer, most standard print dialogues have a "Scale to Fit" feature.  Since an A3 sheet is exactly twice the size of an A4 sheet, the printer just needs to "zoom in" on the content.

The Quickest Method: "Fit" or "Shrink to Fit"

When you open your PDF (usually in Adobe Acrobat, Chrome, or Edge) and hit Ctrl + P, look for these specific settings:

1. Select the Printer: Make sure you have selected a printer capable of A3 printing.

2. Properties/Preferences: Click this button first to ensure the Paper Size is set to A3. If the printer thinks it's still holding A4, it will just crop the image.

3. Page Sizing & Handling:

   • Select "Fit" or "Scale to fit".

   • Alternatively, select "Custom Scale" and type in 141%. (This is the magic number for A4 to A3 expansion).

      

      

4. Check the Preview: Look at the preview window on the right. If the text looks large and fills the entire A3 boundary, you’re good to go.
