Connecting the AWR250 Scanning Wand to Agrinous with iPhone or Android

The Allflex AWR250 can be put into a HID mode that makes it work on both Android & iPhone, mimicking a keyboard that keys in the EID numbers. 

On the AWR250 scanner navigate to:
Step 1—

Menu → Setup → Interface Setup → Bluetooth → Set Bluetooth Mode

Select:Slave Mode

Step 2 — Configure the Scanner to Act as a Keyboard

Navigate to:

Menu → Setup → Interface Setup → Bluetooth → Set BT Profile

Select:HID

Important:
Do NOT select HID Smart or BLE modes.

 Step 3  — Navigate to Menu → Setup →   Reader Settings   → Set Online Mode   → Set Output Format  → Select NLIS


Pair the Scanner to an iPhone or Android device

 Step 4 — Open Bluetooth Settings

On the device: Settings  →Bluetooth →  ON

Step 5— Pair the Scanner

Wait for the scanner to appear in the device list

The scanner name will display as:
  • AWR250_xxxxx

Where xxxxx represents the last 5 characters of the scanners serial number.

Tap the scanner name to pair

Confirm the Bluetooth pairing code if prompted

Optional Recommendation — Increase Auto Shut-Down Time on device (sleep Mode)
Each time the device goes to sleep you will need to reconnect the Bluetooth. 

To prevent the device from switching off too quickly:

Navigate to:

Menu → Setup → Display → Set Switch Off Time

Adjust the shut-down timer to a longer duration.



Step 6 — Confirm Connection

When connected successfully:

  • The Bluetooth icon on the scanner
    (top middle of the screen)
    will turn green

Important Connection Information

In HID keyboard mode, the Bluetooth connection is managed by the iPhone or iPad operating system — not by the AgriNous app.

If the connection drops:

Return to:
    • Settings → Bluetooth

    Tap the scanner to reconnect
Step 7 — Open the AgriNous App

Launch the AgriNous app and open your normal scanning screen.

Step 8 — Select Manual Mode

In the top left corner:

Select:

  • Manual

Step 9 — Activate the Input Box

Tap inside the text field labelled:

  • “Type or paste EIDs below”

Ensure a flashing cursor is visible.


Start Scanning

When the scanner detects an EID:

  • The EID will automatically type into the text box
  • The scanner behaves exactly like a Bluetooth keyboard
